Round and square bars in line inspection

BIS (Bar Inspection System)

100% automatic (calibration included), pass-through inspection systems using UT Phased Array and Eddy Current Array technology for round and square bars (black, sandblasted and rolled/peeled bars) in line, with high productivity (testing speed up to 2m/s). These are “turnkey” systems (manufactured in Canada and/or integrated by CGM).

  • T1 for testing of round bars (10 ÷ 65 mm). Maximum sensitivity FBH 0.7 mm, testing speed from 0.5 to 2 m/s, based on the hardware configuration of the system, the type of defect being sought and the material’s surface and straightness conditions.

  • T2 for testing of round (20 ÷ 100 mm, or 25 ÷ 125 mm) and square (30 ÷115 mm) bars. Maximum sensitivity FBH 0.7 mm, testing speed from 0.5 to 2 m/s, based on the hardware configuration of the system, the type of defect being sought and the material’s surface and straightness conditions.

  • T4 for testing of round (80 ÷ 250 mm) and square (90 ÷ 240 mm) bars. Maximum sensitivity FBH 0.8 mm, testing speed from 0.3 to 1 m/s, based on the hardware configuration of the system, the type of defect being sought and the material’s surface and straightness conditions.

The UT Phased Array technology allows simultaneous inspection with longitudinal (LW) and transverse (SW) waves, ensuring 100% coverage of the cross section (with detection of internal, subsurface and superficial defects). The uncontrolled ends are approximately 30 mm for T1 and T2 and 50 mm for T4.

The Eddy Current Array technology allows the detection of longitudinal, transverse and oblique surface defects. The minimum detectable depth is about 0.2 mm (it varies according to the material’s surface condition).

This type of system fulfils the conditions required by the specific regulations for the Automotive, Nuclear and Aeronautical industry (NADCAP).

Inspection of large bars with portal system

RBIS (Rotating Bar Inspection System)

100% automatic (calibration included) inspection systems, in rototranslation, using UT Phased Array and Eddy Current Array technology for round bars (sandblasted or rolled/peeled), in line or stand-alone, with high productivity (from 30 seconds to 8 minutes per piece). These are “turnkey” systems (manufactured in Canada and/or integrated by CGM).

Diameter range: 70 mm – 500 mm.

Sensitivity varies from FBH 0.7 mm upwards, based on the material’s structure (attenuation) and the diameter to be controlled.

100% coverage in vertical section; uncontrolled ends are about 5-10 mm.

This type of system fulfils the conditions required by the specific regulations for the Automotive, Nuclear and Aeronautical industry (NADCAP).

With and without welding pipes inspection

Pipe Inspection System

100% automatic (calibration included) inspection systems, in rototranslation, which use UT Phased Array technology for rolled, extruded or welded pipes, in line or stand-alone, with high productivity (from 30 seconds to 8 minutes per piece). These are “turnkey” systems (manufactured in Canada and/or integrated by CGM).

These systems are able to detect subsurface and surface defects (internal and external surface of the pipe) of any orientation in a single passage, but also specific defects such as cavities, thickness variations and conical defects.

This type of systems fulfils the requirements of all the regulations in force for the nuclear and Oil&Gas industry.

Forged inspection

Forgings inspection systems

Highly automated inspection systems, using conventional UT technology or Phased Array for forgings, stand-alone. These are “turnkey” systems, manufactured by CGM and integrated with Evident (Olympus) electronics, probes and software.

This type of systems fulfils all the conditions required by the regulations in force for the Energy industry, but also the technical specifications of many turbine manufacturers (GE, Siemens, Samsung, Ansaldo, etc.).

These are customized systems, designed to satisfy the specific requests of each customer.

Type of products: discs, bushings, rings and alike (vertical piece axis), or shafts, forged pipes and alike (horizontal piece axis).
